Chapter 30: Montgomery GI Bill – Active Duty

These benefits will generally apply to Veterans who began active duty service for the first time after June 30, 1985, have had their pay reduced by $100 per month for 12 months, and have received an honorable discharge. These benefits are paid on a monthly basis directly to the veteran. The student is responsible for their account balance.

Chapter 31: Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E)

Eligibility for Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment benefits are determined by the VA Voc-Rehab Counselor. If you have not yet established eligibility, click here to locate the Regional Benefit Office nearest you.

Chapter 33: Post 9/11

If you have at least 90 days of aggregate active duty service after September 10, 2001, and are still on active duty, or if you are an honorably discharged Veteran or were discharged with a service-connected disability after 30 days, you may be eligible for this VA-administered program.  Benefits are paid based on a student’s benefit level and rate of pursuit.  A book/supply stipend and a monthly basic allowance for housing (BAH) is paid to the student, while tuition and related expenses are paid to the school (at the percentage rating determined by the VA).  The student is responsible for any balance not paid for by the VA. Chapter 35: Dependents Educational Assistance (DEA)

Eligibility is for a son, daughter, or spouse of one or a veteran who has a service connected, permanent and total disability or died as a result of service connection. These benefits are paid on a monthly basis directly to the dependent. The student is responsible for their account balance.

Chapter 1606: Montgomery GI Bill – Selected Reserve

This benefit is for members who are actively participating in the Selected Reserve. Selected Reserve components include the Army Reserve, Naval Reserve, Air Force Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve, Coast Guard Reserve, Army National Guard, and Air National Guard. Basic eligibility requires a 6-year obligation in the Selected Reserve and satisfactory participation in required Selected Reserve training. Chapter 1606 benefits are paid on a monthly basis directly to the reservist. The student is responsible for their account balance.

Each community college president is asked to bring two (2) wrapped door prizes, minimum value of $50 each. We will have a station set up at the conference for you to drop off the door prizes.

Each community college is asked to provide name tags for their Board members, administration, and staff attending the conference.
