Pearl River Fine Arts

The Department of Fine Arts and Communications consists of three main areas of instruction: Music (MUS, MUO, MUA) Visual Arts (ART), and Speech and Theater (SPT).  Our highly-qualified, experienced, and caring faculty provides quality instruction through courses for both the student choosing to major in one of these areas and for the general student population.  Please consult the college catalog for a complete list and description of all courses.

Interested in discovering your creative side? Explore traditional courses in drawing, design, color theory, and more in our Arts program. Pearl River offers a variety of art courses ranging from Intro to Art, drawing, design, and more.

Service
Scholarship

Each student that participates in the instrumental, vocal, and drama programs at Pearl River is eligible for a service scholarship*. Scholarships are awarded for a maximum of six semesters and do not have to be taken during consecutive semesters. Service scholarships within the Department of Fine Arts and Communications can be “stacked” with academic, other service scholarships, and State and Federal financial aid.

Pearl River Community College has also made a huge commitment to the future of the arts in south Mississippi with the 2013 opening of the Ethel Holden Brownstone Center for the Arts.  The ten-million dollar Brownstone Center is a state-of-the-art facility with an 850-seat theatre, ample backstage support area, and spacious lobby with visual arts display space.

Each community college president is asked to bring two (2) wrapped door prizes, minimum value of $50 each. We will have a station set up at the conference for you to drop off the door prizes.

Each community college is asked to provide name tags for their Board members, administration, and staff attending the conference.
