Your support system for
academic success

The First-Year Experience program through the Center for Academic Engagement is designed to support students entering PRCC for the first time.

Our goal is to help students successfully transition to PRCC, get connected and engaged, and achieve their academic goals.

Ready. Orient. Advise. Register!

ROAR is PRCC’s Orientation program designed to prepare all incoming students for their first day at PRCC and to get registered for their first semester classes.

New & Transfer students are required to go through ROAR.  Students will learn information to help them prepare for the first day of school, meet with an academic advisor, and register for classes.

Click “Get Started” to login to RiverGuide and select “New Student Portal”.

Returning and Transient students are not required to go through ROAR.  These students should contact the appropriate advisement center to schedule an appointment.  For more information on student advisement, visit Advising/Counseling.

Current Wildcats should contact their assigned advisor to make a schedule.

The First-Year Seminar is a credit-bearing Learning & Life Skills (LLS) course designed to support students throughout their first semester at PRCC and is a requirement for graduation.

  • LLS 1313: Orientation is a 3-hour course intended for new students that helps them become acclimated to college life.
  • LLS 1311: Orientation is a 1-hour course intended for transfer students that informs them about PRCC processes, policies, campus resources, and tools.

In addition to our FYS, we offer a variety of LLS courses to support the PRCC student throughout their college career & beyond:

  • LLS 1153: College Life  – Provides one-on-one support for academically at-risk students.  Major focus on success strategies, financial literacy, and academic, personal, & career planning.

  • LLS 1713: Job Search Skills – Major focus on career exploration, job attainment skills, and work ethic.

FYE provides academic growth opportunities for Student Engagement through social media and workshops.
