Your support system for
academic success

The First-Year Experience program is designed to support students entering PRCC for the first time. 

Our goal is to help students successfully transition to PRCC, get connected and engaged, and achieve their academic goals.

Orientation is a credit-bearing Learning & Life Skills (LLS) course designed to support students throughout their first semester at PRCC and is a requirement for graduation.   

  • LLS 1313: Orientation is a 3-hour course intended for new students that helps them become acclimated to college life.   
  • LLS 1311: Orientation is a 1-hour course intended for transfer students that informs them about PRCC processes, policies, campus resources, and tools.  

In addition to our Orientation class, we offer a variety of LLS courses to support the PRCC student throughout their college career & beyond: 

  • LLS 1153: College Life  – Provides one-on-one support for academically at-risk students.  Major focus on success strategies, financial literacy, and academic, personal, & career planning. 
  • LLS 1423: College Study Skills – Advanced course in study skills including note-taking, test-taking, and reading strategies. 
  • LLS 1713: Job Search Skills – Major focus on career exploration, job attainment skills, and work ethic. 

FYE provides academic growth opportunities for student engagement through on-demand workshops.  Student professional development topics include time management, study skills, stress management, and more.   Students can earn a certificate of completion for each on-demand training. Workshops are:

RiverGuide Troubleshooting

Having trouble logging into RiverGuide? Try these tips to help you dive back in.

1. Use either Firefox or Chrome Internet browser. Internet Explorer will produce more errors than one of the other browsers listed.

2. Click “Sign In” only ONCE. Multiple clicks will result in an authentication error.

3. Make sure you are entering the correct username and password.

4. Clear the cache/cookies in your web browser. Use the help feature in your browser to find instructions on how to clear your cache/cookies).

5. For information on setting up the OneLogin Multi Factor Authentication, visit I.T.’s How To page.

6. If you are still having trouble logging in, do not change your password.  Contact the I.T. Helpdesk at 1-844-292-3214.  They can help you reset your password in a more effective way.

Each community college president is asked to bring two (2) wrapped door prizes, minimum value of $50 each. We will have a station set up at the conference for you to drop off the door prizes.

Each community college is asked to provide name tags for their Board members, administration, and staff attending the conference.
