PRCC FYE
Your support system for academic success
The First-Year Experience program through the Center for Academic Engagement is designed to support students entering PRCC for the first time. Our goal is to help students successfully transition to college, get connected and engaged on campus, and achieve their academic goals.
The FYE program involves three major components: ROAR, First-Year Seminar (FYS), and Student Engagement.
- ROAR is PRCC’s Orientation program for all incoming students. ROAR is designed to prepare students for the first day of school and to get registered for their first semester classes.
- FYS is a credit-bearing course designed to support students throughout their first semester at PRCC and is a requirement for graduation.
- FYE provides academic growth opportunities for Student Engagement through social media and workshops.

Ready. Orient. Advise. Register.
ROAR is PRCC’s Orientation program required for all New & Transfer students. During ROAR, students will learn information to help them prepare for the first day of school, meet with an academic advisor, and register for their classes.
Students entering their second semester and beyond will be assigned an academic advisor each semester to create their class schedule.
Current, Returning and Transient students are not required to attend ROAR. These students should contact the appropriate advisement center to schedule an appointment. For more information on student advisement, visit Advising/Counseling.
