Pearl River and Collegiate Academies Team Up to Provide Higher Education Opportunities

July 14, 2023

Pearl River Community College continues to embrace its motto of keeping quality education affordable, accessible, and efficient for students. PRCC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Collegiate Academies on Thursday, that will bolster the relationship between the schools and increase opportunities for their students.

The MOU agreement will lead to programs, activities, and support to help their students thrive at PRCC. The goal is to have 10 students matriculating from Collegiate Academies to PRCC, where they can excel academically and flourish both as individuals and within the community.

“We are very excited and honored to build a partnership with such a wonderful community that we see in Collegiate Academies,” said Candace Harper, Vice President for Enrollment Management & Business Services. “They are focused on student success, providing opportunities for all their students, and dedicated to making sure their graduates have affordable and accessible options for college success.

“We can not wait to see what the future holds for PRCC and Collegiate Academies.”

Based in Louisiana, Collegiate Academies runs five high schools and two post-secondary programs. They aim to build world-class public schools that prepare all students for college success and lives of unlimited opportunity. Many of their graduates come from lower-income families and are often the first to attend college. Students typically have at least one college acceptance upon graduation from high school.

CA Next is one of their post-secondary programs and will be integral to the new partnership. They work to see alumni of Collegiate Academies find their path after high school, including determining the right fit for post-secondary education.

“I am super excited about this partnership,” said Fred Johnson, Senior Director of CA Next. “We are always looking for opportunities for our students to continue to grow. This includes access to institutions that provide a high-quality education, a robust college experience, and staff that will support them as well.

“Our students want a family feel from the school they attend. Pearl River has staff and leaders who are intent on creating that experience for them.”
