Melinda Stuart named Outstanding PRCC Employee for May 2023

June 29, 2023

Melinda Stuart, Bookstore Assistant Manager for the Distribution Center, has been selected as the Outstanding Pearl River Community College Employee for May 2023. She was presented with certificates containing her nomination information and several goodies in honor of her hard work.

Eleven women stand inside retail space. Two of them are holding a certificate and another holds a balloon bouquet.

“I am thankful for the recognition,” said Stuart. “I am blessed with a great team that makes my job easier. The River is home to me, and I am grateful for my PRCC Family.”

From 2003 to 2005, Stuart attended PRCC, eventually earning an associate degree. As a student, she was a work-study for the textbook center. Her dad, Steve Herndon, worked at the center and often had her return to help as needed.

In 2012, Stuart returned to PRCC full-time when she accepted the role of Bookstore Assistant. Her willingness to jump in and help where needed has paved the path for her advancement to Assistant Manager.

“Thank you, Melinda, for the amazing job you do every day,” said Bookstore Assistant Manager (Wildcat Den) Penny Thames. “You are an important part of our team!”

“PRCC is very lucky to have Melinda as a part of our Wildcat team,” said Vice President for Enrollment Management & Business Services Candace Harper. “She has always gone above and beyond to assist not only students and employees in the bookstore but also willing to jump in and serve around campus wherever needed.

“She truly epitomizes someone who is ‘Happy to Help.’ I am so proud that others recognize what I always have in her.”

Amanda Brumfield, Internal Process Developer, nominated Stuart for the honor.

“I am so proud to call Melinda my co-worker,” said Brumfield. “She is hardworking, kind, knowledgeable, and just fun to be around. She thinks of others before herself and is everything a Wildcat should be!”

Anyone wishing to nominate a current PRCC employee can do so monthly through the PRCC website at prcc.edu/nominate-prcc-employee/.
