The Barbering program trains students in the basic skills, safety judgments, proper work habits, and desirable attitudes necessary to achieve competency in entry-level job skills, obtain licensure and obtain gainful employment in the field of barbering.

How to apply to the Barbering Program

1. Complete PRCC Application

Within 3-5 days after you apply, you will receive RiverGuide Credentials. 

Be sure to send your final High School Transcript no later than June 30th.  

Any previous college transcripts or beauty school history must be provided to PRCC Admissions. 

 

2. Complete Program Application

Entry Requirements: 

ACT Scores: Reading 16 or higher Math 14 or higher

*If you do not meet the required ACT scores, you may take the TABE test. 

TABE Scores: Reading 10 or higher Math 9 or higher

3. Required Documentation

You will be notified no later than the first week of June if you are selected for an interview. 

If you are selected for the program, you will be required to provide the following:

  • 10-panel drug test 
  • Form 121 (immunizations & tuberculosis test)

*These two tests require payments, so it is advised to only do so if you are selected for an interview. 

If you are selected for the program, it is highly encouraged to complete a Free Application for Student Financial Aid (FASFA) as early as possible to determine your financial aid eligibility.

Each community college president is asked to bring two (2) wrapped door prizes, minimum value of $50 each. We will have a station set up at the conference for you to drop off the door prizes.

Each community college is asked to provide name tags for their Board members, administration, and staff attending the conference.
