River splits at East Central in 2011 soccer openers

DECATUR Pearl River Community College split with MACJC non-division foe East Central in its women and men soccer season openers here Thursday with the Lady Wildcats blasting the host Lady Warriors 8-0, while the Wildcats fell 2-1. PRCC women improved to 1-0, while ECCC dropped to 0-2. The River men dropped to 0-1, while East Central men are now 1-1. In the women game, the Lady Wildcats blew it open early with Emmaleigh Davis, a sophomore University of Memphis transfer who prepped at Resurrection Catholic High in Pascagoula, scoring three in the first half, Ana Lee of Picayune High two, and Maguy Paschal of Bay High one to take a commanding 6-0 advantage at the half. Davis and Lee added solo goals in the second half. Jordan Organ of Forrest County AHS had two assists in the game, while Ashlee Arnau and Millie Barr, both of Oak Grove High, had one each. In the men game, East Central led 1-0 at the intermission, while things were knotted at 1-1 during second-half play. Jordan Galvin and Tre Wilson scored goals for the Warriors, while James Zanelli of Essex, U.K., scored the Wildcats second-half goal off an assist by Tyler Hatch out of East Central High in Hurley. Pearl River opens its home schedule Friday against Northwest Mississippi (5:30 p.m. women, 7:30 p.m. men), then hosts Itawamba (12 noon women, 2 p.m. men) Saturday. NWCC and ICC are MACJC North Division schools, while PRCC is a member of the South Division.

Each community college president is asked to bring two (2) wrapped door prizes, minimum value of $50 each. We will have a station set up at the conference for you to drop off the door prizes.

Each community college is asked to provide name tags for their Board members, administration, and staff attending the conference.
