Pearl River celebrates Fall 2020 ADN graduates

Pearl River Community College celebrated a new class of Associate Degree Nursing students through a pinning ceremony Wednesday in the Ethel Holden Brownstone Center for the Arts.

“This is a special night for everyone in this room,” PRCC President Dr. Adam Breerwood said. “This is a night where these students have combined all their empathy, compassion and resiliency to complete this difficult program. A group of students accepted a challenge that has never been seen before. In the face of what would seem to be insurmountable obstacles you overcame. You chose an occupation that is filled with service. You have a servant’s heart. You will also be facing immense pressure. Embrace the pressure. Pressure is a privilege. We are so genuinely proud of all of you.

“Pearl River Community College is your anchor. This is a place you can always come back to and always call home.”

The socially distanced ceremony was accomplished through students receiving 6 tickets each for family members to attend. Participants and visitors also all wore masks and were encouraged to maintain social distance.

As each graduate was pinned, their personally written message was read aloud in which many thanked those that supported them during their time in the program. The crowd was filled with supportive family members and friends who cheered as the students celebrated together.

The ceremony was made even more special as several of the 43 graduates that crossed the stage were pinned by a family member.
