Lovell to receive PTK honor

POPLARVILLE – Ernie Lovell, executive director of the Pearl River Community College Development Foundation, will be honored next week by Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
Lovell will receive a 2015 Distinguished College Administrator Award during Nerd Nation, the PTK annual convention April 16-18 in San Antonio, Texas.
The Distinguished College Administrator Award is given to college vice presidents, deans or other administrative leaders who have demonstrated a strong level of support for Phi Theta Kappa during their tenure.
“Phi Theta Kappa is an organization that represents the students who are driven to reach their goals at a high level,” Lovell said. “It encourages leadership and responsibility. This national recognition is a real honor for me in that it comes from students and staff and faculty who always put forth the best of their abilities and strive to promote excellence in education.”
Lovell was nominated for the award by the Beta Tau Gamma chapter at the Forrest County Center.
A 1977 graduate of PRCC, Lovell earned bachelor’s degrees in marketing and distributive education from Mississippi State University. He worked as a program director and executive with the Boy Scouts of America for 23 years in Picayune, Hattiesburg, Ardmore, Okla., and Tuscaloosa, Ala., before joining the PRCC Development Foundation in August 2006.

Each community college president is asked to bring two (2) wrapped door prizes, minimum value of $50 each. We will have a station set up at the conference for you to drop off the door prizes.

Each community college is asked to provide name tags for their Board members, administration, and staff attending the conference.
