A Pearl River Community College alumnus has been named the college’s vice president for Forrest County operations.
Dr. Jana Causey of Petal moved into the job on July 1after two years as assistant vice president.
“We are extremely proud to have Dr. Jana Causey assume the role of vice president for Forrest County operations,” said PRCC president Dr. William Lewis. “Dr. Causey has demonstrated her special abilities as a classroom instructor and as an administrator during her employment with our college. She is an exceptionally talented educator and will lead our Forrest County Center operations with great vision and leadership.”
She succeeds Dr. Cecil Burt who retired June 30 after 43 years at PRCC, most of them as the college’s top Forrest County administrator.
Causey has worked at PRCC’s Forrest County Center for 10 years – seven as a biology instructor and science coordinator/chairman for five of those years. She served as assistant vice president for the past two years.
“I am extremely honored to have the opportunity to serve Pearl River Community College as the vice president for Forrest County operations,” she said. “Our great institution receives national recognition for offering a high quality education to students, and I plan to continue to focus on serving students.”
Causey received the associate’s degree from PRCC in 1999. She played on the Lady Wildcat basketball and softball teams and was elected homecoming queen and a class favorite. She holds the bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biochemistry from the University of Southern Mississippi and received the PhD in higher education administration from USM in 2014.
She has served on the Petal Children’s Taskforce board for 13 years and is a member of Delta Kappa Gamma society for women educators. She teaches a college Sunday school class at Carterville Baptist Church and coaches youth basketball and t-ball.
Causey and her husband, Chris, have two children – 8-year-old Eli and Kate, 5.
