FULTON Pearl River Wildcats move on to the MACJC State Tournament men semi-finals Wednesday against East Mississippi after eliminating Northwest Mississippi 75-59 here Monday in the quarter-final round.PRCC men, the South Division No. 2 seed who improved to 13-10 overall with Monday 16-point victory, while its women (15-7), also the South No. 2 seed, play North No. 3 Coahoma (13-10) in Tuesday women quarter-finals at 8 p.m.The North No. 1 East Miss men (20-3) bombed South No. 4 Jones County (12-12) 103-70 to open men play Monday. Northwest North No. 3 men dropped to 12-11 with the loss to PRCC.In other men quarter-final action, South No. 1 Mississippi Gulf Coast (20-4) eliminated North No. 4 Itawamba (9-15) 76-67, while North No. 2 Holmes (17-7) were 73-64 winners over South No. 3 Hinds (8-15) to wrap Monday action.Women quarter-final action gets underway Tuesday at 1 p.m. when South No. 1 Copiah-Lincoln (19-4) takes on North No. 4 Northeast Mississippi (9-14); followed by North No. 2 Holmes (16-5) against South No. 3 Jones County (14-8) at 3 p.m., North No. 1 Itawamba (21-2) against South No. 4 East Central (8-14) at 6 p.m., and Pearl River against Coahoma.Wednesday semi-finals tip off with the CLCC-NECC women winner against the HCC-JCJC winner at 1 p.m., followed by the EMCC versus PRCC men winner at 3 p.m., the ICC-ECCC women winner against the PRCC-CCC women winner at 6 p.m., and the MGCCC versus HCC men winner at 8 p.m.The women championship game is set for 6 p.m. Thursday, while the men title bout is at 8 p.m.The Wildcat squad last won the MACJC state championship in 2009-2010 the fifth under 21st-year head coach Richard Mathis. The Lady Wildcats earned their first state tournament berth this season since head coach Toby Bush took over the program four years ago.
