About the Structural Fitting Program
.This hands-on course prepares students for entry-level employment as Structural Fitters in industries such as construction, shipbuilding, and industrial manufacturing. Students will gain the skills and knowledge necessary to fabricate, position, and fit metal structural components according to technical drawings and blueprints. Emphasis is placed on proper measurement, layout, cutting, and assembly techniques using industry-standard tools and equipment.
Students will learn to read and interpret blueprints and specifications, safely operate cutting and shaping tools, and perform basic tack-welding, bolting, and riveting tasks to assemble metal parts. Upon successful completion, students will be equipped with the foundational competencies to pursue employment or further training in the field of structural fabrication.
