POPLARVILLE – The Christmas season will get off to a swinging start at Pearl River Community College with Holiday Pops! on Dec. 4.
The show begins at 7 p.m. at the Ethel Holden Brownstone Center for the Arts and will feature favorite holiday music.
The PRCC JazzCats, The Voices and the String of Pearls dancers will perform a sophisticated program of popular and traditional holiday music.
“We’re doing some things together and some things separately,” said Archie Rawls, JazzCats director and chair of the PRCC Department of Fine Arts and Communication.
The program will include Let It Snow, Jingle Bell Rock, Frosty the Snowman, Santa Baby, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and Joy to the World among many other favorites.
Mistress of ceremonies will be Laura Berry, PRCC speech instructor.
LaDona Tyson is director of The Voices, and Kara Fleming directs the String of Pearls. Mike Bass is assistant JazzCats director.
Bass, Dr. Kyle Hill, director of bands, and percussion instructor Brandon Hutchison will play with the JazzCats. Theater instructor Chris Flynn will be technical director for the show.
