Teamwork makes the dream work at PRCC's 2019 professional development day

Pearl River Community College President, Dr. Adam Breerwood, welcomed the faculty and staff at the 2019 professional development session, using a team atmosphere, with the theme Fill Your Cup.

During his welcome, he used the analogy of mountain climbing and the many team members it takes to reach the summit. Often climbers stop halfway ready to give up their goal but surrounded by a strong team an explorer can find success.

“When you hit a bumpy patch during the semester, what is going to spill out of your cup?” Breerwood asked the faculty and staff. “Is it going to be complaints and negativity, or will it be patience and understanding?”

Dr. Breerwood encouraged the group to “fill their cups” with positivity, empathy, and strong team members for the upcoming year.

After the group dismissed, the day continued at the Marvin R. White coliseum with teams participating in leadership building activities. They ran, jumped, completed projects, and built comradery among the members.

Faculty will continue professional development activities with campus and departmental meetings throughout the week.  On Thursday, August 15th and Friday, August 16th, advisors will be working during open registration to assist new and returning students. Dorm students will move on campus Saturday, August 17th and Sunday, August 18th with the Fall 2019 semester beginning Monday, August 19th.   Pearl River’s team members are already “filling their cups” with enthusiasm for the upcoming school year.
