Sumrall named Counselor of the Year

  POPLARVILLE – A Pearl River Community College academic counselor has received a top award in her field.
  Christina Sumall of Poplarville was named College Counselor of the Year by the Mississippi Counseling Association. She received the award in November during the association’s convention in Biloxi.
  Sumrall received the Pine Belt Counseling Association’s College Counselor of the Year Award during the group’s fall meeting. That award made her a nominee for the state honor.
  She has been a PRCC counselor for two years after 11 years as a counselor or speech teacher-debate coach in the Forrest and Lamar county school districts and at Lamar Christian School. She also taught public speaking on an adjunct basis at PRCC and the University of Southern Mississippi. Sumrall has worked for Marriott Properties, in sales and for the Mississippi Republican Party on the Bush/Quayle advance team.
  Sumrall holds an associate’s degree from PRCC, a bachelor’s degree from USM and a master’s degree from William Carey University where she is working on the Specialist to Doctoral Bridge in higher education.

Each community college president is asked to bring two (2) wrapped door prizes, minimum value of $50 each. We will have a station set up at the conference for you to drop off the door prizes.

Each community college is asked to provide name tags for their Board members, administration, and staff attending the conference.
