Spring pipefitting offered in Hattiesburg

  Pearl River Community College will sponsor an evening pipefitting course in Hattiesburg during the spring semester.
  The class, which costs $250, will meet from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, Jan. 11 through April 28, at the Forrest County Center welding shop.
  The course offers the industry recognized certificate in pipefitting, including applications for 10-hour OSHA certification, basic lift truck operator OSHA certification and NCCER credentials in core curriculum’s introductory craft skills, Level I and Level II pipefitting.
  Applicants must be 18 years old before Jan. 11. A spot in the class requires a CRC certificate rated silver or better, clean drug screen at the student’s expense, receipt from the business office in Poplarville or the Woodall Center in Hattiesburg for payment in full and completed application. CRC testing is offered free of charge at the Woodall Center, 601 554-4646. The application for the class can be obtained by calling Cheryl Frierson at 601 403-1113.
  Tuition assistance is available through WIN Job Center for Workforce Investment Act grants or through the Department of Human Services for SNAP Employment and   Training funds. For questions about assistance, telephone Brad Necaise at 601 569-1910.
  Students must supply their own welding shield, gloves and cap, steel-toed shoes, long sleeve shirt, ear plugs and safety glasses.
  Applications must be turned in to Frierson in the Technology Center on the Poplarville campus.
  PRCC will be closed Dec. 17-Jan. 3 for Christmas.

Each community college president is asked to bring two (2) wrapped door prizes, minimum value of $50 each. We will have a station set up at the conference for you to drop off the door prizes.

Each community college is asked to provide name tags for their Board members, administration, and staff attending the conference.
