POPLARVILLE – Pearl River Community College will offer workforce classes in welding and masonry starting May 23 at the Career Education Building in Poplarville.
Both courses will meet from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, ending on July 21.
The basic and advanced welding course will offer the industry recognized certificate in welding, including applications for 10-hour OSHA certification, basic lift truck operator certification and NCCER credentials in the core curriculum of introductory craft skills and Level I-IV modules in welding.
Cost is $250, and students must provide their own welding shield, gloves and cap, steel-toed shoes, long sleeve shirt, ear plugs and safety glasses.
The basic and advanced masonry course will offer a certificate as a masonry tender at the apprentice entry level, including applications for 10-hour OSHA certification, basic lift truck operator certification and NCCER credentials in the core curriculum of introductory craft skills and Levels I and II in masonry.
Cost is $150, and students must provide steel-toed boots and safety glasses.
Both courses require a completed application, a clean drug screen at the student’s expense and receipt for payment in full from the PRCC business office. Students in either class must be 18 before the first day of class.

SNAP Employment and Training tuition assistance through the Department of Human Services may be available for either class.
