River splits with Hinds

POPLARVILLE – Pearl River Community College split with MACJC non-division women''s and men''s soccer rival Hinds here Monday with the Lady Wildcats taking a 5-1 victory and the Wildcat squad suffering its first loss of the season in a 3-2 decision.PRCC''s women rebounded from its 1-0 South Division loss to Jones County last Tuesday to improve to 5-1 overall, while its men dropped to 6-1. Hinds'' women dropped to 3-3, while its men are now 4-3.In the women''s game, Santana Adams of Hurley (East Central High), Ashlee Arnau of Oak Grove High, and Jordan Organ of Hattiesburg (Forrest County AHS) all scored first-half goals for The River, while HCC''s Amanda Smith''s score in the first half made things 3-1 at the intermission.Adams scored a second goal in the second half, while Brittany Griffis of Hattiesburg (Presbyterian Christian High) had a solo score.In the men''s game, PRCC''s Tyler Szura of Hattiesburg (Forrest County AHS) scored both Wildcat goals in the first half, while Hinds'' Adam Johnson and Dillon Walker had solo scores that resulted in a 2-2 stalemate at the half.James Hoye scored the winning goal for the Eagles in the second half.Pearl River returns to MACJC South Division action Wednesday when Copiah-Lincoln visits for 5:30 p.m. (women) and 7:30 p.m. (men) contests, then its more division action Saturday when arch-rival Mississippi Gulf Coast visits for 1 p.m. (women) and 3 p.m. (men) games.

Each community college president is asked to bring two (2) wrapped door prizes, minimum value of $50 each. We will have a station set up at the conference for you to drop off the door prizes.

Each community college is asked to provide name tags for their Board members, administration, and staff attending the conference.
