River splits at Perk

POPLARVILLE Pearl River Community College split with arch-rival Mississippi Gulf Coast in MACJC South Division women and men soccer action here Tuesday. The Lady Wildcats took a 1-0 win to remain undefeated at 6-0 overall and 2-0 in division play, while the Wildcats were 2-1 losers and are now 5-2 and 1-1. MGCCC women dropped to 5-1 and 2-1, while its men are now 5-1 and 3-0. In women action, the two teams battled to a scoreless stalemate at the intermission before sophomore Ana Lee of Picayune Memorial High scored the game-winning goal in the second half.. In men action, Wildcat freshman Garrett Head of Oak Grove High booted a goal in the first half to put PRCC up 1-0 at the half, but Bulldog midfielder Taylor Stokes scored two goals in the second half to ice the win. Pearl River returns to action Saturday with an MACJC non-division road trip to Itawamba CC in Fulton with game times at 2 p.m. (women) and 4 p.m. (men), then South Division rival Southwest Miss. visits Wildcat Stadium Wednesday, Sept. 21, for games at 5 p.m. (women) and 7 p.m. (men).

Each community college president is asked to bring two (2) wrapped door prizes, minimum value of $50 each. We will have a station set up at the conference for you to drop off the door prizes.
