WESSON — Pearl River Community College’s women’s and men’s soccer squads shutout Copiah-Lincoln here Tuesday in MACJC South Division action with the Lady Wildcats taking a 5-0 victory, while the Wildcats were 6-0 winners.
PRCC’s women improved to 9-1 overall and 6-1 in division play, while its men, the division champions, remain unbeaten at 10-0 and 7-0. Both CLCC squads remain winless at 0-12-1 (women) and 0-13 (men). The Wolves and Lady Wolves are 0-6 in division play.
In the women’s game, Pearl River led 2-0 at the intermission before scoring three second-half goals.
Christina of Horn Lake High led the Lady Wildcats with two goals, while Michelle McKissack of Madison Central, Kacy Mixon out of East Central High in Hurley, and Chelsea Parsons of Biloxi High had solo goals.
In the men’s game, the Wildcats led 2-0 at the break and added four more goals in the second half.
Jackson Harlan of George County High scored two goals for The River, while Tyler Hatch out of East Central High in Hurley, Garrett Head of Oak Grove High, Dustin Ladner out of St. Stanislaus in Bay St. Louis, and Gerald Praylow III out of Escambia High in Pensacola, Fla., all had solo goals.
PRCC swept Co-Lin 8-1 (women) and 9-0 (men) in a previous South Division meetings played Sept. 13 in Wesson.
The River wraps up its regular season when Jones County plays host in Ellisville Tuesday, Oct. 16, with South Division games at 5 p.m. (women) and 7 p.m. (men). Pearl River’s men has already clinched the MACJC South Division championship and earned hosting rights to Oct. 20-21's MACJC State Tournament (men and women).
