PRCC to host band clinic

  POPLARVILLE – Approximately 300 middle school and high school musicians will be on the Pearl River Community College campus Friday and Saturday, Feb. 27 and 28, for the annual PRCC Band Clinic.
  The students from 33 schools will try out Friday afternoon for placement in one of three bands. Clinicians are Elva Kaye Lance, director of bands at Mississippi State University; Matthew Pickering,  assistant director at Pearl High School; and Brian Joyce, assistant director at South Jones High School.
  The PRCC JazzCats will play for the visiting students at 5:45 p.m. Friday followed by the Wind Ensemble at 6 p.m. in the Brownstone Center for the Arts.
  The students will rehearse Friday night and Saturday and the clinic bands will be presented in concert at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. The concert in Smith Auditorium of the Brownstone Center is free and open to the public.
