PRCC to Host Art Display

Art Display

Andrea Kostyal with her art display at Pearl River Community College.

Poplarville – Pearl River Community College to host art display beginning August 30, 2018, by local artist, Andrea Kostyal.

Andrea Kostyal’s paintings are mostly inspired by urban landscape and nature. They are abstract cityscapes of places that she has traveled which express the feelings each city evoked of her while there.  The reflections of these moods and feelings are apparent through her use of expressive color and abstract geometric forms. Kostyal’s work also reflects experiences from her childhood, of growing up in a small village in Europe and spending her time outdoors, exploring nature.

“One of my goals with the display cases on the first floor of Moody Hall is to get students and faculty face to face with artwork throughout the year.  Art can be inspirational and moving, if people are around it enough!  I would love for students to take a break from their day and come see the artwork as a form of relaxation and education.  Andrea Kostyal is an artist working in Hattiesburg and her work shows beautifully; the colors really come forward against the gray walls to make an impressive display.  Any and all are welcome and encouraged to stop by and see the art!” said Matthew Gordon, Art Instructor at PRCC.

“I am strongly convinced that art is not just an activity – it is the most important expression of sincere purity of body, soul, and mind,” wrote Kostyal in her biographical statement.

The art display will be held on August 30th, 2018 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm in the bottom floor of Moody Hall. The Fine Arts department welcomes anyone to join in enjoying this artistic experience.
