PRCC RiverRoad, JazzCats to perform Tuesday

POPLARVILLE – The Pearl River Community College showchoir and jazz band will present their spring concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Olivia Bender Cafeteria on the Poplarville campus.The RiverRoad showchoir under the direction of LaDona Tyson, is made up of 28 students selected by audition.The 2012 show includes Earth Wind and Fire Megamix with solo by Ryan Morris of Columbia, Beautiful Day with solos by Michael Boyte of Sumrall and Claire Loper of Lumberton, If Youre Out There featuring Justin Taylor of Brooklyn, Dynamite and More with solo by Chancellor Montgomery of Columbia.The JazzCats band is directed by Archie Rawls, chair of the Department of Fine Arts and Communication, and Mike Bass, assistant band director.The band program includes Choo Choo ChBoogie, Larry Latin Lunch, Pure and Simple, Jarvis Four, Emergency Stopping, No Spring Chicken, Take What You Need, Sway (Quien Sera), Straighten Up and Fly Right and Vehicle.In addition to Morris, Boyte, Loper, Taylor and Montgomery, members of RiverRoad are Bailey Welsh, Lillian Clark, Lauren Bryant, Chasity Hawthorne and Danielle Rogers, all of Petal; Keagan Johnson, Elizabeth Smith, Leighton Cheramie, Cody Stroupe, Jared Priest and Garrett Foulon, all of Carriere; Hannah Pierce, Brittany Fortenberry, Michael Sapen and Taylor Crosby, all of Columbia; Kaleb Killens and Alexx Kennedy, both of Poplarville; Dakota Youngblood of Lumberton; Creighton Holder of Brooklyn; Drew Hedgepeth of Picayune, NKisa Lewis of Oak Grove, Mariah LeBlanc of Purvis and Danielle Moray of Pearl River, La.Playing in the RiverRoad band are Aaron Carden of Lucedale, trumpet; Adam Mixon of Sumrall, trombone; Stephen Berry of Columbia, saxophone; Brandon Hutchison of Picayune, drums; John Fisher of Poplarville, bass guitar; Jacob Cochran of Poplarville, synthesizer; PRCC music instructors Hope McKellip, piano, and Mike Bass, trumpet. Each community college president is asked to bring two (2) wrapped door prizes, minimum value of $50 each. We will have a station set up at the conference for you to drop off the door prizes.

Each community college is asked to provide name tags for their Board members, administration, and staff attending the conference.
