PRCC raises $3,600 for Heart Association

POPLARVILLE – Pearl River Community College raised $3,672 for the American Heart Association on Thursday, April 25, with a Heart Walk at the college’s new walking track.
Fifteen teams participated in the fund-raising challenge and numerous individuals joined the two-mile walk for an estimated 175 walkers.
“This is our first event on our new walking track,” PRCC President Dr. William Lewis said. “We’ve got big plans out here.”
The lighted, paved track was funded by grants from the Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation and the Lower Pearl River Valley Foundation as well as the college.
“We’re really, really proud of what’s happened out here,” Lewis said.
Heart Walk organizers will continue raising money through the end of the month and with a Zumbathon on May 16.

Walkers wait for the signal to start the Heart Walk on Thursday, April 25, at Pearl River Community College.
