PRCC launches spring Honors Lecture Series

Pearl River Community College’s Dr. William Lewis Honors Institute launched its Faculty Lecture Series for spring semester Tuesday at the Forrest County Campus in the Dr. J. Cecil Burt Special Events Room.

Faculty and students attended the lecture, presented by Dr. Erick Moffett, Chemistry instructor at the PRCC Poplarville campus.

Dr. Moffett’s topic: “Seeing is Believing: Using Physical Modeling to Teach Conservation of Matter.”

Dr. Moffett was introduced by sophomore Ameze Ekunwe of Hattiesburg, a member of the Honors Council.

Student members of the 2022-23 Honors Council include Tobias Adams, Benjamin Hartley, Preslie Fisher, Logan Ratliff, Hunter Bass, Abbilyn Jones (President), Patrick McGruder and Kyle Sloan.

Upcoming Honors Institute events include:

  • March 6 (7:30 a.m.) – Government Officials Breakfast, Dr. J. Cecil Burt Special Events Room.
  • March 28 – Honors Faculty Lecture Series, Dr. Douglas Donohue, 12:15 p.m., Dr. J. Cecil Burt Special Events Room.
  • April 10 – Phi Theta Kappa Induction, Dr. J. Cecil Burt Special Events Room.
  • April 13 – Honors Research Symposium.

Each community college president is asked to bring two (2) wrapped door prizes, minimum value of $50 each. We will have a station set up at the conference for you to drop off the door prizes.

Each community college is asked to provide name tags for their Board members, administration, and staff attending the conference.
