Pearl River Community College is hosting a special signing day for students interested in enrolling in one of the many Career-Technical Education programs offered at the Forrest County Center.
Signing day is Tuesday, July 7.
“We are excited about CTE signing day,” said Dr. Jana Causey, Vice President for the Forrest County Center. “We have created this event to help our students learn about our program opportunities, tour our facilities, complete steps to enroll, and celebrate their decision to pursue a great career.”
The schedule for the day is as follows:
9 a.m. until 11 a.m. – Business Management Technology, Accounting, Medical Billing and Coding.
12 p.m. until 2 p.m. – Electronics Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology and Biomedical Equipment Repair.
2 p.m. until 4 p.m. – Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Welding, Precision Manufacturing and Machining Technology.
PRCC begins offering Precision Manufacturing and Machining Technology for the first time this fall. The program prepares students to enter into advanced manufacturing careers as machine operators, machinists, and CNC programmers.
“Recruitment, counselors, faculty, administrators, and staff will be available to assist students with tours, financial aid, and creating schedules,” said Dr. James Collum, Career Education Department chair at the FCC.
“The main objective of the day is to help students understand what CTE programs are offered and to assist students with the necessary steps to be accepted into these programs.”
According to Dr. Causey, when students arrive, they will come to Building 3 on the Hattiesburg campus. CDC guidelines will be in place.
“Our staff will be wearing masks and we encourage anyone coming to campus to wear a mask also,” she said. “A temperature kiosk will be set up at the door to check everyone and hand sanitizer stations will be set up as well. We will spread everyone out at least six feet apart to make sure we implement measures to keep everyone safe.”
Added Dr. Collum, “We want to help students learn about the essential skills taught in our career and technical programs, and we want to celebrate these future Wildcats.”
