PRCC hosting annual showchoir contest in Hattiesburg

  Pearl River Community College will host the Mississippi Showchoir Contest Friday and Saturday, Feb. 1 and 2, at Smith Auditiorium at William Carey College in Hattiesburg.
  The contest features 25 middle and high school showchoirs. Admission is $10 per day.
  Competition starts at 3:30 p.m. Friday with the Class A division – Variations from South Forrest Attendance Center Variations, Tiger Vibe, Northeast Jones Middle School; Spotlight!, Oak Grove Middle School. The supper break from 5 to 6:15 p.m. will be followed by an exhibition performance by The Voices ensemble from PRCC.
  Class AA competition begins at 6:30 p.m. – Infusion, South Jones Middle School; Ambassadors, Clinton Junior High; New Edition, Pearl River Central Middle School; Exclusive, Columbia Academy; and Center Stage, West Jones Middle School.
  Following competition, PRCC’s RiverRoad showchoir will perform. Awards will be announced at 9:30 p.m.
  The Saturday schedule is as follows:
• 8:30 a.m. – Class A competition with Renaissance, Northwest Rankin High; Chanticleer, Crestview High; Entourage, Stone High; Innergy, Pisgah High; and The Premiers, Columbia Academy;
• 10:45 a.m. – Women’s Division with Destiny, Crestview High; and Tidal Rave, Picayune Memorial High.
• 11:40 a.m. lunch break.
• 1p.m.  – Women’s competition continues with Innovations, Petal High; New Edition, South Jones High; and Revolution, West Jones High.
• 2:15 p.m. – Class AA with Tigers Untamed, Hattiesburg High; Orange Sensations, Wayne County High; Aggie Accents, Forrest County Agricultural High; Central Attraction, Pearl River Central High; and Imagination, West Jones High.
• 4:30 p.m. – Class AAA with Soundsations, Petal High, and Company, South Jones High.
  RiverRoad will perform at 5:25 p.m. and preliminary awards will be announced at 6 p.m.
  The top five showchoirs and three finalists will resume competition at 7:25 p.m. followed by a performance by The Voices. Awards will be presented at 10:15 p.m.

Each community college president is asked to bring two (2) wrapped door prizes, minimum value of $50 each. We will have a station set up at the conference for you to drop off the door prizes.

Each community college is asked to provide name tags for their Board members, administration, and staff attending the conference.
