PRCC Dorm Move-In Weekend Weathers Heat and Rain

Through rain and shine the Poplarville campus of Pearl River Community College was buzzing with excitement this weekend as over 750 new and returning Wildcats settled into their new homes in the dorms for the semester.

In true Wildcat Way fashion faculty, staff, and administrators were waiting for them with dollies, carts and a helping hand to get them out of the heat or rain and into their rooms.

“This staff was truly a blessing we don't know if we would have made it without them,” said Melody Gallowy, Wildcat mom. “I already feel at ease with leaving my daughter in such great hands. Thank y'all again!”

PRCC students will begin classes this week, for some the first time and others once again. They look forward to Welcome Week activities to follow including an ice cream social, field day, tie-dye spirit shirt making, the Wildcat Olympics, and more! Many commented they had much to look forward to this semester including participating in their team sports and meeting new friends.

“Being able to give students a helping hand as they begin their new semester just makes me proud to be a member of the Wildcat Family,” said one PRCC employee working the event.

While more than 700 students moved into dorms this weekend, at least 500 students remain on the waiting list. To counter this demand PRCC has two new dorms currently under construction that will eventually house over 260 more students.
