PRCC celebrates honors students in 2021 medallion ceremony

The Pearl River Community College Dr. William Lewis Honors Institute recently held the 2021 Medallion Ceremony celebrating its graduates.

“As you leave us and head on to do exceptional things, know that we are proud,” PRCC President Dr. Adam Breerwood said. “You will remain with us. You are a Wildcat for life. We cannot thank you enough, not only for choosing Pearl River Community College, but for the remarkable work you’ve done while you’ve been our students.”

The Dr. William Lewis Honors Institute exists to challenge students who are intellectually gifted, and who thrive when challenged in the classroom. In addition to interactive classes taught by award-winning faculty, activities are planned to foster unique qualities. The Institute enhances the intellectual climate of the College while broadening student’s perspectives, encouraging good research practices, and inspiring students to achieve full potentials as learners, leaders, and citizens.

The past year has been one of unique circumstances and yet the honors students have still presented and competed in various research-based events, volunteered in community endeavors and worked together on Institute projects.

“… Over the past two years I’ve held leadership positions in the Honors Institute and Phi Theta Kappa, received scholarships and have had the opportunity to present research,” said PRCC Honors Institute Graduate Aubrey Gaudet.

“This Honors Institute has opened doors for scholarship opportunities, afforded us the ability to do research in our field of study, and make connections throughout the State,” PRCC Honors Institute Graduate and Sophomore Representative Lauren Sumrall said. ”Receiving a medallion today is a testament to the hours of hard work and effort we have put in to get to this point.”

Graduates are as listed: Skylar Aultman, Catherine Authement, Andrew Blythe, Zachary Boudreaux, Logan Bradley, Noah Broadus, Jacob Brogan, Christopher Cannon, Grey Chapman, Riley Cleveland, Ethan Daley, Jared Daley, Luke Davis, Kailee Deakle, Tarra Dow, Destiney Fountain, Landon Freeman, Aubrey Gaudet, Ashley Gonce, Quindalin Harper, Noah Hebert, Jessica Helgerson, Jennefer Jones, Jana Joyce, Jennifer Kerry, Chris Labat, Collin Ladner, Kylee Ladner, Kate Langnes, April Lees, Michelle Legg, Trinity Lowe, Kagan McCurnin, Lane Miles, Abigail Miller, Centirea Peterson, Jada Pittman, Alexander Province, Wesley Rainey, Sarah Rector, Joshua Regan, Jessica Roberts, Ethan Spiers, Delilah Stapes, Kyle Stockstill, Lauren Sumrall, and Taiya Theodore.
