Pearl River Community College is excited to announce the second year of participating in the Child Cares Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) federal grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The CCAMPIS grant will assist qualifying students who are also parents of young children with the cost of daycare. Grants funds may be used for both off-campus state-certified daycare centers and the PRCC Child Development Lab School.

“PRCC is committed to provide pathways for student success,” said Dr. Adam Breerwood, PRCC President. “The ability to provide affordable child care has been an obstacle for many seeking higher education opportunities. We are grateful to the U.S. Department of Education for providing the necessary funding that will assist in alleviating that challenge.”

The CCAMPIS grant intends to alleviate some of the financial burdens for college students who are also parents. The grant will allow students to focus on their studies as they pursue academic success and complete their ultimate goal of graduation.

“The CCAMPIS grant will help with daycare expenses for PRCC students with children aged six weeks through four years,” said Dr. Jennifer Seal, Vice President for Planning and Institutional Research. “To qualify for CCAMPIS childcare assistance, students must be Pell-eligible and plan to enroll in at least 15 credit hours per semester.”

PRCC awards students who are financially eligible funds to assist in securing quality childcare services in CCAMPIS-approved childcare centers according to a sliding scale.

Any new or returning PRCC students on any campus including, adult education, are eligible to apply. To apply for funds, complete the CCAMPIS application at PRCC_CCAMPIS Application. For more information, please call (601) 403-1317.
