Pearl River men headed to MACJC State Tourney

POPLARVILLE The defending MACJC state soccer champion Pearl River Community College Lady Wildcats wont be able to defend the prestigious crown this go-around after dropping back-to-back South Division contests and eliminating themselves from post-season contention. The Wildcats, on the other hand, enter the MACJC State Tournament this weekend at Jones Junior College in Ellisville as the division No. 2 seed after clinching a playoff spot with last Saturday 5-0 victory over Copiah-Lincoln in Wesson. PRCC men fell to arch-rival Mississippi Gulf Coast 2-1 on Tuesday in Perkinston, giving the host Bulldogs the division crown and South No. 1 seed. PRCC women, on the other hand, were eliminated from any post-season contention with their 3-1 loss to CLCC and wrapped their season with a lopsided 8-1 setback to MGCCC in 2010''s regular-season finale. The Wildcats finished the regular season 11-3-1 overall and 4-3-1 in division plaly, while the Lady Wildcats finished their year at 10-4-1 and 3-4-1. State tournament action gets underway Saturday with the North No. 1 Hinds women taking on South No. 2 Mississippi Gulf Coast at 9 a.m., while the North No. 1 Hinds men face South No. 2 Pearl River at 11 a.m. At 1 p.m., the South No. 1 Jones County women face North No. 2 Itawamba, while the South No. 1 Mississippi Gulf Coast men tackle North No. 2 Holmes at 3 p.m. Sunday championship games are set for 1 p.m. (women) and 3 p.m. (men).

Each community college president is asked to bring two (2) wrapped door prizes, minimum value of $50 each. We will have a station set up at the conference for you to drop off the door prizes.

Each community college is asked to provide name tags for their Board members, administration, and staff attending the conference.
