Pearl River Community College recognized 52 Practical Nursing graduates at a pinning ceremony held on Thursday at the Ethel Holden Brownstone Center for the Arts. 


Both Forrest County Campus and Poplarville Campus were represented at the ceremony. 


“This is one of my favorite days of the year because we get to celebrate student success,” PRCC Vice President for Forrest County Center, Allied Health and Nursing Dr. Jana Causey said to the graduates“We are so proud of each and every one of you. You are ready for the challenge.” 


Along with expressing how proud the PRCC staff are of the graduating class, Causey also reminded them to remember the Wildcat Way: Pride, Respect, Class and Character.  

PRCC Practical Nursing Class of 2021 Poplarville Campus

Student Lazerirck Brister spoke on behalf of his fellow students on the Poplarville campus. He showed gratitude to their instructors and concluded that they are a driving force that will “make it possible to embark on our nursing journey in confidence.” 


Brister was also recognized as the top student in his class having maintained a 4.0 GPA in the program.

The top student for the Forrest County Campus class, Mary Carpenter, spoke for her fellow students.  Resilience is the word for our class,” she said. “Our stress came from nursing school and COVID. But we are called into this profession with a desire to care for, help, and serve others.” 


During the pinning ceremony, each student had their dedication card read aloud. Through these, they were able to express their gratitude for those that helped them reach thfinish line.
