New housing option for PRCC students in Hattiesburg

Students attending the Forrest County Campus (FCC) of Pearl River Community College have a new option for housing in Hattiesburg. Eagle Flatts, located just over 1/4 mile to the edge of USM’s campus, has opened its housing options to PRCC students.

Since the campus opened in 1970, the FCC has been a commuter campus offering an array of general education, Allied Health and Career and Technical Education opportunities. Beginning in 2017, many Allied Health and CTE programs have been added or expanded to meet the needs of the local workforce. Enrollment in those programs has increased by almost 60% in the past five years. To help accommodate the growing enrollment for those programs, PRCC and Eagle Flatts are excited about offering more housing options to these students.

“We are excited to partner with Eagle Flatts to offer our students affordable housing options that provide a safe, gated community and excellent amenities,” said Vice President Jana Causey.  “Our students have enough stress to manage while navigating their educational journey, so having this option available will be one less struggle for a student to conquer.”

“Eagle Flatts has offered several ‘college-friendly’ options to help our students be successful such as including utilities and Wi-Fi, special payment plans, and furnishings. We are thankful to have businesses in our community that help reduce the challenges our students face.”

Pearl River Community College students can submit a special code used during the application process that identifies them as PRCC students. The code unlocks specially negotiated benefits for the students. It can be obtained from the Business Office/Advisement section in Building 3 of the Forrest County Campus.

The gated community offers 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom, and 4-bedroom apartment options for students with each bedroom offering a private bathroom. Students then share a common living, dining, and kitchen space. The complex is about a 15-minute drive away from the FCC.

Eagle Flatts offers important amenities that college students and their parents can appreciate. Along with free off-street parking and most utilities including 1G internet woven into the rent, students only sign a lease for their portion of the rent. If a roommate departs, those remaining do not have financial responsibility for the other person’s rent.

Along with the amenities in the apartment, residents have access to a gorgeous pool with a hot tub, outdoor entertainment areas including a grill and kitchen, free printing in the computer lab, and an on-site fitness center. The complex is pet friendly and has roommate matching services for those individuals who need one.

“Eagle Flatts is thrilled to assist PRCC in providing housing for students in the area,” said Danielle Armao, Community Manager of Eagle Flatts. “We take pride in being part of the Hattiesburg community and being a ‘home away from home’ for so many people. Our staff looks forward to welcoming you home!”
