Mississippi Symphony returning to PRCC

  POPLARVILLE – The Mississippi Symphony Orchestra makes a return visit to Pearl River Community College on March 24.
  MSO performed for a packed house at the grand opening of the Ethel Holden Brownstone Center for the Arts in September 2013.
  The symphony will present a similar program of light classical music along with many recognizable show tunes.
  “Our performance in Poplarville last season was one of the most remarkable experiences the Mississippi Symphony and I have had in a very long time,” conductor Crafton Beck said. “This was due in no small part to the remarkable quality of your new facility, but it was also due to the terrific audience we had that evening. We worked closely with the presenters there again this year and are looking forward to bringing what we think to be an equally powerful and entertaining program.”
  The program, which includes a celebration of  Marvin Hamlisch’s music, will offer something for everyone, said Archie Rawls, director of the Brownstone Center.
  “The program that the MSO will be performing includes light classical favorites such as “The Barber of Seville” and “Carmen”, favorite marches, selections from the blockbuster  musicals “Wicked” and “West Side Story” and cinematic scores from “Titanic” and other favorite motion pictures,” Rawls said. “This outstanding program will provide a wide variety suitable for all ages and musical tastes. I am very excited to welcome them back to the Brownstone Center this season for another incredible evening of music.”
  The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, in Smith Auditorium of the Brownstone Center on the PRCC campus.
