Marjory Thrash honored at conference

POPLARVILLE – Pearl River Community College English instructor Marjory Thrash has been named the MS Virtual Community College Instructor of the Year.
Thrash, who started teaching online in 2000, received the award and $1,000 at the Creating Futures Through Technology conference in Biloxi.
She was one of the first instructors in the state to teach online.
“  I have taught beginning and intermediate English, English composition 1 and 2, traditional grammar and American  literature 1and 2,” she said. “For online success, administration, support staff and faculty must all have the souls of true teachers. We do whatever is necessary to get information to our students. That happened with chalkboards and slide rules, and it happens today in online instruction.”
Thrash and her husband, Bobby Thrash, have been at PRCC since 2002.

Each community college president is asked to bring two (2) wrapped door prizes, minimum value of $50 each. We will have a station set up at the conference for you to drop off the door prizes.

Each community college is asked to provide name tags for their Board members, administration, and staff attending the conference.
