Lady 'Cats' Hall, Rester eyeing Miss. Juco All-Star Showcase set for Oct. 29 in Ridgeland

POPLARVILLE – Pearl River Community College softball standouts Shelia Hall of Baton Rouge, La., and Brandi Rester of Poplarville High will participate in the Mississippi Junior College All-Star Showcase set for Friday, Oct. 29 at Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland.Hall, a pitcher, and Rester, a centerfielder, are both sophomore members of the defending MACJC state champion Lady Wildcat squad.In addition, ninth-year PRCC head coach Leigh White is one of three coaches for the All-Star squad which is comprised of top players from all teams in the MACJC South Division. The North Division will also field a squad.Other South Division coaches include Mississippi Gulf Coast”s Kenneth Long and Jones County”s Chris Robinson.”Each school can send as many as four players to the showcase, but we opted for two,” White said. “It”s a good thing for these athletes to showcase their talents to senior colleges.”Rester batted .418 and stole a team-high 20 bases last season as a freshman, earning All-Region 23 and All-MACJC honors.Hall, who prepped at Dutchtown High School in Baton Rouge, sported a 12-10 overall record and a 3.71 earned-run average in 109 innings pitched. She also recorded 61 strikeouts over that stretch.The Lady Wildcats won their first-ever MACJC state championship, finishing with a 32-20 record. PRCC finished third in the Region 23 Tournament.

Each community college president is asked to bring two (2) wrapped door prizes, minimum value of $50 each. We will have a station set up at the conference for you to drop off the door prizes.

Each community college is asked to provide name tags for their Board members, administration, and staff attending the conference.
