PRCC Homecoming Court

Homecoming Court

Homecoming is a respected tradition at Pearl River Community College. As the oldest community college in the state, we are proud to honor our past and celebrate the future of our college.

Being selected by the student body to represent one of PRCC’s campuses is a tremendous honor.  It means that you are respected and viewed as a campus leader by your peers. Being on the Homecoming court requires much time, energy and a full commitment from students. To ensure success for court members and the college, please read the information below regarding court qualifications, the election process, and required dates.

The Pearl River Community College Homecoming Court is selected each Fall semester through an online (RiverGuide) election process. An interest meeting is held on the Poplarville Campus and provided virtually to other campus locations. During the interest meeting, all requirements to participate on Homecoming Court are explained and interested students are required to sign the “Student
Homecoming Court Agreement.”  This agreement will include a commitment to required dates, dress guidelines and adherence to all court nomination and election processes.

Once the agreement is signed, students can begin the campaigning process to receive nominations. Nominations will take place for a specified period of time and then voting will begin. Nominees with the top nominations from each classification of freshman and sophomore on their campuses will be included on the official voting ballot. Voting will take place for a specified time and then Homecoming Court results will be announced publicly.

All Homecoming Court nominees must meet the following qualifications:

  • Attend the interest meeting and sign the Student Homecoming Court Agreement

  • Must be a PRCC full-time student enrolled in 15 hours and have a 2.5 GPA (For this requirement, GPA for freshman students will be based on high school GPA and GPA for sophomore students will be based on PRCC GPA)

  • The student must be in good standing with the PRCC and not have any outstanding or ongoing disciplinary issues

  • Students must campaign and run for Homecoming Court based on their primary campus classification according to Banner (PRCC Information System)

  • A freshman court maid must be a student who has been enrolled in two semesters or less at PRCC or another institution (excluding dual enrollment). A sophomore court member must be a student who has completed at least two semesters of college coursework but has not been enrolled in more than four semesters at PRCC or another institution (excluding dual enrollment).

  • The Homecoming Queen must meet all of the qualifications above and will be the sophomore student who receives the most votes during the election. A student can only hold the title of Homecoming Queen once.

The PRCC Homecoming Court is comprised of nine court members.

Two Court Members to represent the Hancock County Campus

Two Court Members to represent the Forrest County Campus

Four Court Members to represent the Poplarville Campus

One Queen who is a sophomore student that receives the most votes

Elected Homecoming Court members will be required to participate in all Homecoming activities which include the court presentation practice, the court brunch, Fall Fest, the pre-game Homecoming activities, court presentation at the Homecoming game and all official court photos and meetings.

Court members are required to attend court practice in order to review their bios and receive presentation instructions. This meeting should not take over 30 minutes if everyone is on time! This practice/rehearsal will take place in the afternoon of Fall Fest at Dobie Holden Football Stadium on the Poplarville Campus.

The PRCC Homecoming Brunch is by invitation only. Each court member may invite one guest to attend the brunch. The brunch will take place the Tuesday before Homecoming on the Poplarville Campus. Court members are required to attend and participate in Fall Fest activities. Fall Fest will follow the Homecoming Brunch and will also be located on the Poplarville Campus.

Official court photos will be taken during the first official court meeting (after election results are announced) during Fall Fest and during the court presentation at the Homecoming game. Court members are required to attend these dates and times and be dressed appropriately as outlined in the official court meeting.

Each community college president is asked to bring two (2) wrapped door prizes, minimum value of $50 each. We will have a station set up at the conference for you to drop off the door prizes.

Each community college is asked to provide name tags for their Board members, administration, and staff attending the conference.
