Safety of Records

POLICY OF BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF PEARL RIVER COMMUNITY COLLEGE Tuesday, November 8, 1994 Administrative

Pearl River Community College will insure the safety of administrative and student records.

Student records prior to 1981 are on microfilm and are stored in a fireproof safe. Student records from 1981 to the present are computerized and the following steps are used to secure these records.

Backups of the administrative system which include both student records as well as administrative records are performed nightly and stored on a purpose built backup appliance designed to efficiently host backups for large scale systems.  The backup solution uses software based encryption during the backup process to provide an additional layer of protection.  Nightly, replication of the backups are sent offsite to a secondary appliance at the Woodall Technology Center as an additional precaution in the case of a natural disaster.  All backups are stored for three weeks before being overwritten by newer backups.

Each community college president is asked to bring two (2) wrapped door prizes, minimum value of $50 each. We will have a station set up at the conference for you to drop off the door prizes.

Each community college is asked to provide name tags for their Board members, administration, and staff attending the conference.
