Dungan elected president of PRCC Fellowship of Christian Athletes

POPLARVILLE – A Wildcat baseball player has been elected to lead the Fellowship of Christian Athletes chapter at Pearl River Community College.Catcher Forrest Dungan is president of the six-member leadership team. Other officers are vice president Whitney Waits of Hattiesburg, a softball player, and chaplain Aaron Lee of Carriere, a baseball player.Also on the leadership team are softball player ETrareo Warren of Meridian, basketball player Shanta` Echols of Sumrall and football player Brandon Dedeaux of Picayune.The chapter meets at 7:30 p.m. each Wednesday in Malone Chapel on the PRCC campus.We usually have about 40 that come each week, Dungan said. We may play a game or show a video. Then we have the message or devotional.Mitchell Williams, FCA regional director, meets with the chapter weekly.The student athletes plan to put together a community service project for the spring semester and assisted last month with the Bobby Bowden appearance sponsored by FCA in Hattiesburg.Each member of the chapter received a copy of the FCA Competitors Bible at the Dec. 7 meeting.We have had donations through the Alumni Association, four or five donations made to cover the FCA Competitors Bible, said Dr. Barbara Gandy, who has helped get the chapter organized.The book is a compact-sized Holman Christian Standard Bible and features 365 devotions written specifically for athletes with scripture references.

Each community college president is asked to bring two (2) wrapped door prizes, minimum value of $50 each. We will have a station set up at the conference for you to drop off the door prizes.

Each community college is asked to provide name tags for their Board members, administration, and staff attending the conference.
