POPLARVILLE – Twenty-five students celebrated completion of the Bridge to College program at Pearl River Community College on Thursday, July 27, during an awards luncheon.
Miles Gay of Lumberton received the outstanding achievement award from Georgia Field, director of PRCC Student Support Services.
Other award winners were John “Jack” Hayes of Picayune, basic communication; Ethan Wicktom of Petal, math; Colton Guidry of Picayune, community college survival skills; and Destiney Horton of Picayune, hashtag award for photos used to make a class slide show.
Others who completed the program are Tyrel Angrum, Alexis Boone, Joshua Carter, Keisha Jenkins and Zyaria Richardson, all of Hattiesburg; Onnlia Cox and Kyle Guidry, both of Picayune; Daniel Fairley and Sarah Toucet, both of Bogalusa, La.; Alisha Moody and Farah Williams, both of Perkinston; Minerva “Minnie” Avalos and Douglas Amir, both of New Orleans, La.; Tess Ball and Samantha Knight, both of Poplarville; Ricardo Booth of Bassfield, Elizabeth “Betty” Clark of Diamondhead, Brianna Dalcour of Gulfport, Ozzie McGee of Brooklyn and Casey Mina of Lumberton.
A part of PRCC’s Student Support Services programs, Bridge to College eases the transition to community college for first-generation college students and those who meet specific disability and/or income criteria.
Instructors were Lois McDonald, Craig Carrigee and Haley Amacker.
