Apply for Summer Bridge to College Program

  POPLARVILLE – Applications are now being accepted by Pearl River Community College’s Student Support Services for the 13th annual Summer Bridge to College program, also known as START. Deadline is Thursday, May 31.
  The START program will meet from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Thursday plus one Friday, beginning July 2 and ending July 26.
  Students can earn up to nine college credits while learning skills needed to be successful in community college.
  Classes are basic computation skills (algebra), basic communication skills (writing and reading), and Community College Survival Skills.
  The primary criteria for Student Support Services is the need for academic support based on  ACT scores, grade point average in high school, graduation from an Adult Basic Education Program, being a non-traditional student who has been out of school for more than five years or having a disability. Participants must also meet at least one of the following: low-income, neither parent has graduated from a four-year college with a degree or disabled.
  Students pay no tuition for the summer program.
  Applicants must complete two steps – be accepted by PRCC admissions and then mail or fax a completed Summer Bridge Program (START) application to Lauren Baker, Summer Bridge Program Coordinator,   Student Support Services, Pearl River Community College, P.O. Box 5118, Poplarville, MS  39470 or fax the application to 601-403-1042.

Each community college president is asked to bring two (2) wrapped door prizes, minimum value of $50 each. We will have a station set up at the conference for you to drop off the door prizes.

Each community college is asked to provide name tags for their Board members, administration, and staff attending the conference.
