Poplarville – Pearl River Community College's first semester Associate Degree Nursing students took the Nightingale Pledge at their ceremony Monday, March 18th in Malone Chapel on PRCC's Poplarville Campus.
The ADN Class of 2020 took the Nightingale Pledge. In doing so they were pledging to do all their power to maintain and elevate the standard of their profession and dedicating themselves to devoted service to human welfare. Each student was given their name badge and was pinned with it in a fashion that will be replicated at their final pinning ceremony at the conclusion of their program.
Students also heard from a nursing student in their last semester of the program, just 24 days from her last final exam. She encouraged the new nursing students to work hard and give the program all they have. She also reminded them that their instructors were their most valuable resources and when things seemed too tough to handle to always remember the reason they started the program in the first place.
Several first semester students spoke about the importance of nursing's past and how it related to what they are continually endeavoring to do today with this program.
Parents, friends, and PRCC staff cheered on the new ADN students as they took this first step of many toward their goals.
PRCC wishes these students the best as they begin the journey in hopes of seeing them all again for their pinning ceremony at the conclusion of their program and semesters of dedication.
