The Pearl River Community College Dr. William Lewis Honors Institute offers outstanding educational opportunities to students who are capable of high performance and have demonstrated exemplary academic leadership abilities. Applicants must have a minimum composite ACT score of 25 and a minimum grade point average of 3.5, or be a current student who has completed 24 semester hours of college work with a cumulative 3.4 grade point average or better.
Students selected for the Pearl River Community College Dr. William Lewis Honors Institute will participate in intensive and innovative classes which are designed to be both challenging and stimulating. In addition, students will have honors-related academic advising to assist in planning for future educational and leadership opportunities. To be recognized as an Honors Institute Medallion graduate, students must complete at least 21 hours of Honors coursework and maintain a cumulative 3.4 grade point average. To receive an Honors Certificate, students must complete 11 hours of Honors coursework with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.24. In addition, all Honors students are advised to participate in the Pearl River Community College Honors Lecture Series and the Honors Seminar each semester.
