Violence Prevention

Policy: Pearl River Community College is committed to providing a learning and working environment that is free from violence or threat of violence. Any act of violence or threatening behavior, including verbal statements, is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. The College will promote working and learning conditions intended to eliminate the potential for incidents of violence to occur within its operation or facilities.

Procedure: Pearl River Community College will treat all reports of threatening behavior or violence seriously and will fully investigate them. All students and or employees of Pearl River Community College should report incidents to the Dean of Student Services. The Office of Student Services will investigate all reports and will initiate an appropriate response, which may include but is not limited to immediate removal from Pearl River Community College property, suspension, expulsion, and/or referral for criminal prosecution. All students are required to cooperate in any investigations the College conducts in response to reports of acts of violence or threatening behavior.
