Science Olympiad held Feb. 18

  POPLARVILLE – Approximately 250 students competed in the Gulf South Science Olympiad held Saturday, Feb. 18, at Pearl River Community College.
  The students competed in high school and middle school divisions in 15 categories in each. One team from each school can advance to compete in the categories at the state competition March 31 at the University of Southern Mississippi.
  Winners in the lower division categories were:
  Overall – St. Patrick, first; North Woolmarket, second; West Marion, third.
  Anatomy and physiology – St. Patrick, first; Pearl River Central Middle School, second; North Woolmarket, third.
  Bottle rocket – PRC Middle School, first; Petal Upper Elementary, second; Lillie Burney STEAM Academy, third.
  Crime Busters – PRC Middle School, first; St. Patrick, second, North Woolmarket, third.
  Disease Detectives – PRC Middle School, first; St. Patrick, second, North Woolmarket, third.
  Dynamic Planet – Petal Middle, first; West Marion, second; Petal Upper Elementary, third.

Each community college president is asked to bring two (2) wrapped door prizes, minimum value of $50 each. We will have a station set up at the conference for you to drop off the door prizes.

Each community college is asked to provide name tags for their Board members, administration, and staff attending the conference.
