POPLARVILLE Pearl River Community College swept East Central in MACJC non-division women and men soccer action here Wednesday with the Lady Wildcats taking a dominating 8-0 shutout, while the Wildcats pulled out a 1-0 squeaker. PRCC women remain undefeated at 4-0, while its men are now 4-1. Both ECCC squads remain winless with its women at 0-4 and its men at 0-3-1. In women action, things were scoreless for the first 10-plus minutes before Charlotte Crisp of Surrey, England, kicked one in at the 34:20 mark of the first half. The potent Lady Wildcat squad got on track some 13 minutes later when it scored four goals in the final 11:30 of the first half. Emmaleigh Davis, a sophomore transfer from the University of Memphis who prepped at Pascagoula High, booted three straight goals over a three-and-a-half-minute span at the 11:30, 10:56, and 7:56 marks; while Presley Stigletts of Oak Grove High ended the first-half scoring with 6:28 remaining to give PRCC a comfortable 5-0 lead at the intermission. Jordan Organ of Forrest County A.H.S. opened the second-half scoring with a goal with 34:01 left, then Havanah Gholar and Ashlee Arnau, both of Oak Grove High, added finale scores at the 13:19 and 4:28 marks. Needless to say, the men contest was a hard-fought battle that ended in a scoreless stalemate at the break before Garrett Head of Oak Grove High booted what would be the game-winning goal at the 15:52 mark of the second half. Pearl River opened its season August 25 against ECCC in Decatur with an 8-0 women win and a 2-1 men loss. Those games counted in The River overall records, but not East Central as the Warrior squads had not completed the exhibition portion of its schedule. The River exhibition season had already ended. PRCC returns to action Friday when it opens its MACJC South Division schedule at home against Copiah-Lincoln. Game times are 1 p.m. (women) and 3 p.m. (men).
