MOORHEAD Julian Beamon smashed a two-run, walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th inning here Saturday to propel host Mississippi Delta to a 4-2 victory over Pearl River in the first game of an MACJC non-division doubleheader before the visiting Wildcats bounced back to take a 7-4 win in the nightcap game. PRCC improved to 17-9 overall with the split, while MDCC is now 9-14-1. In the first game of the twin bill, the Wildcats scored unanswered solo runs in the top of the first and fifth innings, before the Trojans tied it up with runs in the bottom of the eighth and ninth frames to send things into an extra inning. Pearl River used three pitchers in the game. Christian Talley of Hancock County High pitched eight innings, giving up two hits, striking out four, walking one, and hitting two batters; while Anthony Lusco of Bay High went one-and-a-quarter, giving up two hits. Martin Anderson out of Cedar Creek High in Calhoun, La., pitched two-thirds of an inning and gave up a hit. Delta also used three hurlers. Luke Mormon pitched seven innings, giving up four hits, striking out six, and walking three; while Dalton DeLoach went two frames, giving up two hits and striking out one. Johnathan Parker pitched one inning for MDCC. Braxton Lee of Picayune High paced the Wildcats six-hit effort with a double and three singles, while Aaron Lee of Pearl River Central High and Chase Lewallen of Sumrall High both had base hits. Besides Beamon, Trey Keyes and Jorge Toribio homered for the Trojans, while Blake Palasini doubled. Both teams played error-free in the contest. In the nightcap game, PRCC went up 1-0 in the top of the first before MDCC tied it up in the bottom of the second. The River regained the lead in the third with a solo run to make it 2-1, but Delta bounced back with a two-run effort in the bottom of the frame. The Wildcats blistered the Trojans with five in the top of the fifth, while Delta scored its final run in the bottom of the sixth. Pearl River used five pitchers in the game, including Trace Robinson of Purvis High who went two innings, gave up two hits, and struck out four; while Cody Conkle of Petal High pitched two frames, giving up four hits and recording a strikeout. Tyler Jordan of Bay High went one-and-a-third, giving up a hit, striking out three, and walking one; while Bradley Rayborn of Purvis High pitched two-thirds of an inning, striking out one. Brandon Pennington of Sumrall High also pitched one inning. The Trojans used two pitchers in the contest, including Felix Fuentes who went three innings, gave up a hit, struck out five, and walked two; while Turner Neely gave up seven hits, struck out nine, and walked two. Lewallen paced the Wildcats eight-hit attack with a pair of singles, while Braxton Lee tripled, Clint Willoughby of Clinton High doubled, and Ryan Best of Oak Grove High, Forrest Dungan of Columbia High, Matt Linton of East Central High, and Chad Livingston, a Southeastern Louisiana transfer who prepped at Slidell (La.) High, all had base hits. Mississippi Delta finished with six hits, led by Cole Lee double; while Beamon, Eric Bronzovich, Kris Grayson, Cody Marks, and Haden Ward all had singles. MDCC committed two errors in the game to PRCC one. Pearl River returns to action when it travels to MACJC South Division rival Copiah-Lincoln in Wesson Wednesday for a 4 p.m. doubleheader before division foe East Central visits Wildcat Stadium in Poplarville Saturday for a 1 p.m. twin bill.
