Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves will be the speaker for Pearl River Community College graduation ceremony at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, at the James Lynn Cartlidge Forrest County Multipurpose Center in Hattiesburg.Associate degrees and certificates of proficiency will be awarded to students who completed their studies during the summer and fall 2011 terms as well as the spring 2012 semester.Reeves was sworn in as Mississippi lieutenant governor in January after serving two terms as the state first Republican state treasurer.A native of Rankin County and a graduate of Florence High School, Reeves played point guard for the Millsaps College basketball team and graduated from Millsaps with honors and a bachelor degree in economics. He is an active alumnus, serving as a a member of the investment policy board for the Millsaps College General Louis Wilson Fund and of the Advisory Committee of the Else School of Management.Reeves holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation (CFA) and is a member of the CFA Society of Mississippi and the CFA Institute, an organization that sets the highest standards of ethics and professional excellence in the investment industry. In 1996, he was the recipient of the Mississippi Society of Financial Analysts Award.He served as president of the National Association of State Treasurers (NAST) for 2006_2007 and has been a member of several committees. Reeves also represented Mississippi as a member of the Executive Board of the College Savings Plans Network. He served on the board of trustees for the Public Employees Retirement System of Mississippi, as well as the chairman of the board of directors of College Savings Plans of Mississippi and the Mississippi Health Care Trust Fund.Reeves and his wife, Elee Williams Reeves, are the parents of two daughters. The family attends Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church in Jackson.
