DECATUR Pearl River Community College Wildcats remain undefeated on the season after picking up a pair of victories here Friday on the East Central CC diamond with a lopsided 13-6 win over Wallace-Hanceville (Ala.) and a 4-3 decision over Baton Rouge (La.).PRCC improved to 4-0 after Friday sweep, while WHCC dropped to 7-4 and BRCC is now 3-7.Against Wallace, the Wildcats went up 5-0 with two runs in the top of the first and third frames and a solo run in the second; while WHCC bounced back with two in the bottom of the third and took a one-run lead with four in the fourth.PRCC answered with two in the fifth, one in the sixth, and five in the seventh to take the seven-run victory.Reliever Bradley Rayborn (1-0) of Purvis High got the win despite his pitching only one-third of an inning in the fourth. Ryan Deemes out of Holy Cross High in Chalmette, La., started, giving up six runs in his three-and-two-thirds innings of action. Scott Ashford out of Catholic High in Baton Rouge, La., pitched a third of a frame in the fifth; Chase Chancellor out of Presbyterian Christian High in Hattiesburg threw two-thirds of an inning in the fifith, Tyler Jordan of Bay High the sixth, and Cody Conkle of Petal High the seventh.Jake Smith got the loss after relieving starter Robby Clements in the third, while Cade Medley arrived in the fifth.Conner McCain and Jud Sherrill paced Wallace seven-hit effort with each cracking a double and a single, while Jake Montgomery had two base hits and Davis Blair singled.Krisjon Wilkerson of St. Stanislaus College in Bay St. Louis led The River 14-hit attack with a grand slam home run and three singles, while Braxton Lee of Picayune High tripled and doubled, Matt Linton, an East Central High grad from Moss Point, had two doubles. Marcus Lawton Jr. of Biloxi High and Chase Toussaint of Petal High both doubled and singled, while Austin Carter of Sumrall High doubled and Chad Livingston of Slidell (La.) High singled.Each team committed an error in the contest.The Wildcats played the host team role against Baton Rouge and went up 2-0 in the bottom of the first before the "visiting" Bears knotted it up with solo runs in the top of the second and third frames. After the fourth and fifth went scoreless, BRCC took a 3-2 edge with a run in the top of the sixth before PRCC answered with tow in the bottom of the inning.Trace Robinson (1-0) of Purvis High got the win after pitching two-thirds of an inning in relief, while Chrikstian Talley of Hancock County High started and struck out four in his four innings on the mound. Tyler Summers of Greene County High arrived in the fifth and pitched one-and-a-third, while Martini Anderson out of Cedar Creek High in Calhoun, La., pitched the seventh.Starter Jared Keating got the loss, going six-and-one-third innings; while Christian Extine relieved in the seventh.Both teams finished with five hits each with Bond Babin leading Baton Rouge with two singles, while Grant Auntement doubled and David Hofstetter and Tanner Sheets both singled.Lawton led PRCC with a pair of singles, while Ryan Best of Oak Grove High doubled and Lee and Livingston both had base hits.Both teams committed two errors each in the game.Pearl River returns to action Tuesday when it travels to LSU-Eunice (La.) in Eunice, La., for a 4 p.m. doubleheader before Baton Rouge plays host Saturday, Feb. 25, for a 2 p.m. twin bill.
