PRCC dental hygiene students receive awards, pins

Sixteen students received pins Tuesday, May 8, signifying completion of the Pearl River Community College dental hygiene program at the Forrest County Center.The pinning ceremony was held at PRCC Lowery A. Woodall Advanced Technology Center.Rebecca Rushing of Gloster received the Outstanding Student Award, and Dianna Talley Hebert of Vancleave received the Colgate Star Student Award. The Hu-Friedy Golden Scaler Award went to Angela Whiddon of Purvis, and Davie Ann Puckett of Columbus received the Patient Education Award.The Mississippi Dental Hygiene Association Award went to Lyndsey Sims of Sumrall, and Abbie Robinson of Hattiesburg received the Make It Happen Award.Sims, Rushing and Ashley Bull of Biloxi were inducted into Sigma Phi Alpha Honor Society.Other graduates are Brittany Davis of Biloxi, Stephan Haas of Kiln, Marissa Landingham and Myrtis Lee, both of Hattiesburg; Jessica Speed of Seminary, Jennifer Torgeson of Pass Christian, Amanda Trippe of Natchez, Candice Weathers of Pascagoula and Austin Wilson of Petal.All of the graduates have passed the examination for National Board certification.Dr. Stan Hill is retiring after 20 years as director of the dental hygiene program. The new director is Dr. Shanalyn Allen. Instructors are Donna Lunn and Bethnie Hitt.

Each community college president is asked to bring two (2) wrapped door prizes, minimum value of $50 each. We will have a station set up at the conference for you to drop off the door prizes.

Each community college is asked to provide name tags for their Board members, administration, and staff attending the conference.
